CURATOR'S TOUR AT HAUS GALLERY WITH EERO EPNER
CLASSICS OF ESTONIAN ART
Native nature, cities and people 1900-1945
Art historian and curator Eero Epner will present the behind-the-scenes and art-historical manifestations of the popular exhibition that opened already in mid-February at Haus Galeri on Monday, March 6 at 6:00 p.m. The exhibition exhibits nearly 60 magnificent paintings from two anonymous private collections and will remain open until March 13, 2023.
Among the authors represented at the exhibition are Konrad Mägi, Villem Ormisson, Kristjan Raud, Richard Uutmaa, Eerik Haamer, Lepo Mikko, Johannes Võerahansu, Nikolai Triik, Paul Burman, Ado Vabbe and many others. The paintings reach the public for the first time as an exhibition of this scale, creating unexpected and wonderful insights into Estonian art and testifying to the high artistic level of our private collections.
Haus Galerii has been working with both the owners of the works in this exhibition and with many other art collectors for decades, often observing the modesty of the collectors, but at the same time always being ready to bring their works to the public, be it museum exhibitions or, in this case, the initiative of a private gallery.
This exhibition provides a meaningful opportunity to observe the reflection of several important and often dramatic events in the history of Estonia through art: be it the moods of the Second World War or the idyllic urban milieu from Tallinn and elsewhere.
