Linda Kits-Mägi’s oeuvre was rich and often carried an improvisational character. She came from a wealthy family, yet her heart was drawn to art. Despite being a mother of three, Kits-Mägi found the time and focus to dedicate herself to painting. Unlike her husband, Elmar Kits, she did not spend much time in nature, preferring instead the urban environment and occasionally tending to her garden. She frequently painted interiors, including domestic scenes. In this case, it can be assumed that Kits-Mägi depicted a corner of her home studio in the Tartu Artists’ House.

The thin layers of paint and the intensity of her brushwork indicate that, although the depicted objects are arranged into orderly systems and carefully composed, Kits-Mägi aimed to remain improvisational in her approach. Above all, the impact of color was paramount for her, and for this purpose, she employed a highly varied palette, introducing unexpected hues such as brown.
