Decades earlier, a journalist visited Leili Muuga’s studio and wrote: “As reflected in Leili Muuga’s works, she is an extremely simple and modest person, very friendly and warm-hearted. One can see this when visiting her studio. At first, a curious eye cannot take in everything at once. The space is primarily filled with a sense of joy from color. /…/ Leili Muuga has always loved painting flowers. Her floral paintings are full of emotion and rich in experience. /…/ When she paints, warmth of feeling, attentiveness, and the charm of color come through. Yet the artist does not dwell on what she has already created. It is characteristic of Leili Muuga to seek something new, to strive for perfection.”

Over time, Muuga’s style evolved. Whereas earlier her work was more generalized, in this painting it is richer in nuance: the colors are not merely blended together, but explored in their different manifestations. Without any artificial filters, Muuga expresses through flowers a love of life and optimism. In the mid-1980s, she commented on her floral paintings: “With my paintings, I want to bring people joy from flowers and nature. I have always felt reverence toward them.”
