Enno Ootsing's work has been multifaced and extensive, including book illustrations, graphics and painting. In the 1960s, he was one of the founders of the avant-garde group ANK'64, later he taught graphics to students for a long time. According to Reet Varblas, Ootsing has on one hand improvised in his work, but on the other hand he has focused on creating a specific image. "Park's Edge in the Evening", drawn from a natural experience, probably has an improvisational foundation: the artist has experienced something and wanted to convey this experience quickly. The slightly mystical, mysterious and also dramatic edge of the park is conveyed with energetic brushstrokes and boldly strong cold tones. According to Varblas, Ootsing is "a typical modernist of the beginning of the 20th century, who captures everything he experiences through visualization, who gives meaning to his life, organizes his immediate experience by means of drawing, but for whom it is not enough to become a work of art and who needs to find a more precise format for it, using either digital printing or watercolor or wood engraving."
