Over the years the Estonian art market has proven its dynamic activity and like the world market, art has become an investment here as well. Haus Gallery is the first organizer of auctions in Estonia and the founder of the art classics' auction tradition in the local art scene, having held its first art auction already in 1997. This year is the 25th active year of the gallery. Haus will celebrate its birthday in November this year. The gallery has convincing experience in compiling auction selections, which has ensured increasingly stable fine art sales and dignified auction collections. Today Haus Gallery is the only Estonian auction house with total auction turnover exceeding a threshold of 1 million euros, twice. Our 2021 Spring Auction had the same result.

Haus Gallery dedicated 2022 Spring Auctions, with thorough attention and delving into art history, to the Estonian art classics both earlier and modern. Three auctions took place:

EARLIER ART CLASSICS - Saturday, May 14th

MODERN ART CLASSICS - Sunday, May 15th

GRAPHICS AND DRAWINGS - Monday, May 16th

Auction exhibitions were open to all visitors. Extensive auction catalogs were written by art historians Heie Marie Treier and Eero Epner, as well as curator Piia Ausman. In addition to print and webcatalogs, video catalogs will also remind us of the exhibitions and auctions, all of which are publicly available and contribute additional material to local art educational purposes.

All artworks at the Haus Gallery auctions are always available to the art-oriented audience. Curators of museum exhibitions have always been able to add works from the private collections of Haus Gallery customers to public exhibitions and catalogs. Through the years the gallery has collaborated on several such projects acting as a link between private collectors and the museum, the last of which was an exhibition by Lembit Sarapuu at KUMU the Contemporary Art Museum of Estonia, which was recently opened.

The added art historical value and the quality of exhibitions' presentation is the primary and most important emphasis of Haus auctions, which end with a bidding event. Each auction is preceded by an extensive preparation period and an exhibition of original works in the gallery's three exhibition halls in Tallinn Old Town, which lasts up to a month and is always open to everyone.

Here we present the 10 best-selling works from each of the three auctions. The complete overview of auction results is public in the webcatalogs on the Haus website, which can be opened by clicking on the image link. (PS! Each auction is illustrated by the most expensive work in that auction.)
