THE HAY TIME

Exhibition of paintings of Nikolai Kormashov in the Haus Gallery is reviewing, exposing 27 works from the artist\'s creation of the last decade.

Beginning of the creation of Kormashov remains in the breaking 1960ies, when art searched as a counterbalance to the prevailing realism new expressive means and a modern form. One key words of the priod became so-called harsh style, one of the most pure followers of which was exactly N.Kormashov. From that period originate powerful, monumental compositions of generalised figures, stipulated rooms, contrasting colour surfaces that seem almost contradictory to Kormashov\'s last years\' modest paintings that outside seem almost closed, but inside carry a strong spirit.

In the late creation of the artist is realized his discrete religious relationship towards the sensitive co-existence of nature and man. A tribute to this theme is also the current exhibition of Nikolai Kormashov \"The Hay Time\". Title of the exhibition is an idealized symbol, mark of eternal sweet desire towards inexplicable, grass-scented night-warm summer both inside one\'s head and heart.

Kormashov\'s sensitive paintings, being in their simplicity almost exalted, are interpretations of the everyday life in just that kind of summer nature. The artist\'s brush has perpetuated people and moments in the country while longing for the eternity of all the depicted - meadow before thunder, hay-mowers, a sunny garden edge, field flowers, blossoming tree, broken eaves. In his landscapes Kormashov seeks with nostalgia and spirituality that are only characteristic to him, the way to pass the man\'s perfect emotion from the historical life experience.
