Lembit Nõmmeots studied art in Ants Laikmaa's studio, later remembering his mentor with very golden words. In addition, he studied mural painting and decoration at the State School of Arts and Crafts and later at Pallas. He lived and worked in Hiiumaa, but fled to Sweden in 1944. There he worked as an avid author and organizer of artistic life. He himself was interested in geometrism: the possibility of looking at a work through its formal characteristics. One Swedish critic wrote about Nõmmeots' works as follows: "Nõmmeots' oil paintings are geometric analyzes of specific objects. A warm color scale gives life and intensity. A musical perception and harmony emerges. His oil paintings have a distant echo of Picasso's youth."
