Hando (until the year 1936 Heino) Mugasto became despite his very short life one of the grand names of the graphic art of Estonia, who undoubtedly studied at Eduard Wiiralt ja Ado Vabbe. Usually he is referred to as a wood engraver, whose works are rather considered to be ponderous than light-minded, they are rather true-to-life than frantic. Because of that A stroll is in addition to its artistic value also considerably remarkable both in the context of the Estonian art history and the personal artistic biography of Mugasto.
The artist, being only 21 years of age, already uses boldly a specific technique and while joining the new-age movement, being popular in the Estonian art in the second half of the 1920s, he brings into the picture a certain situation that could be placed in the area between expressive grotesque and subtle irony. For example, let us have a look at the collar of the lady (that seems to be made of the Baskerville dog) or a small Amor, who has turned his back at the right edge of the work or the man's tie or the woman's thin lips, or the city view that is already placed somewhere between metaphysics, a horror film aesthetics and a fairy tale.
