First of all the work by Ilmar Malin is surprising. From one hand it is a kind of classical idyllic motif: a young girl amidst romantic nature. But from another hand the author of this work is known because of his paintings, which have been designed after surrealistic logics and are actually very different from the present work. Because of this we can also see here, how malin has used a very popular motif in a new manner. His colour handling is harsher, motif more diverse, atmosphere more mysterious. Nothing here has become too “strangely artistic”, girls are still girls and nature surrounding them is still nature.
