Rein Tammik

The artist’s fate of Rein Tammik is weird. From one side he stood outside the official artistic circles, studying in Tartu School of Art and working either in theatres or at cartoon films. At the same time he was so popular at the peak of his fame that he even moved to Moscow for a couple of years. The present work originates from Tammik’s undoubted artistic peak at the end of the 1970ies. This was the time, when works mixing Tammik’s photo realism and classical school of painting received continuous attention. Exceptionally full of nuances, with subtle colour transmissions, strange scenarios and mysterious atmosphere – this is the masterpiece by Tammik, who has by now become the classic of modern art.
