Varmo Pirk

Tourist view of Varmo Pirk carries the geometrical interest of the 1960ies. This could be compared with Lepo Mikko’s landscape: both are characterised by the existence of a certain scientific standpoint. Pirk’s decision to turn the classical painting format into a vertical one adds to the work much airyness and gives us a clue of the artist’s personal attitude. Even though the popularity of tourism increased during that period enormously, still no object of nature is meant for masses of tourists. They are here now. Others are coming.
