Rudolf Sepp had studied with Ado Vabbe and later started working as a teacher himself. His approach was peculiarly vigorous, he did not like thick layers of paint and preferred improvisation and speed. Lilacs are also applied from a momentary impression, which the artist has tried to apply to the base material as quickly as possible. Therefore, we see a rapid cascade of brushstrokes, which adds liveliness and airiness of colors.
It is possible that the work appeared at the second exhibition of the Estonian Association of Visual Artists (1935, catalog no. 76) or at the EKKÜ XIX exhibition in Rakvere (1939, catalog no. 97).
