On the website of the Association of Estonian Islands, we can read the introduction by Mark Soosaar from 2019: ‘Manõja, (according to the Land Board ‘MANÕJA’, but also used as ‘Manija’ and in the 20th century as ‘Manilaid’) is located in the Kihnu archipelago, administratively in the Tõstamaa subdistrict of Pärnu city. The island covers an area of about 2 km2, and 1 km from the mainland. The permanent population of Manõja amounts to 25 people. /---/ The whole island is a nature reserve /---/.’
Uno Roosvalt keeps to his style, concentrating again and again on painting coastal landscapes. Peaceful view of the protected landscape, high horizon. The junipers remain at eye level. A sea stripe in the distance and a sky of the same colour. The protagonist here is a blaze of colour.
