The female figure in a glamorous pose in the center of the painting appears as a three-dimensional subject, but on the contrary, it is painted in a cardboard box larger than itself and as if on a two-dimensional paper picture. The title of the painting seems to refer to a Catholic context, but the painting itself does not confirm this with anything. Is it a gift box or a packing box? With the city as a metaphor?
Külli Suitso is an Estonian artist living in Denmark with a background in the painting department of the University of Tartu, who creates thought-provoking situations in painting, graphics and video.
