Viktor Leškin "Teater Estonia"

Cityscapes are not rare in the Estonian art. But if usually artist solve with them certain art-related tasks (e.g. Nikolai Kormashov’s cityscape), then Laskin represents another side of art: to be as close to life as possible. He depicts the heart of the city of Tallinn several decades ago with a topographic exactness. The trees have not grown up yet, cars are completely different and Tallinn seems even slightly Utopian. Leshkin has made the choice between several moments and impressions and has then created a painting that would characterize the city centre in the best possible way: even three trams are moving, we can also see a bus, posh cars are driving around, people are hurrying and we can see even one marching group of demonstrators.
