Herman Talvik is one of the biggest visionaries of the Estonian art, whose mystical-religious works startle with their expressiveness and power. At the same time the creation of Talvik also includes seemingly more peaceful works, but there is always active life in them somewhere underneath. Also „Maastik puudega” is not just a sweet picture of the nature, but a vision which has been created with internal burning. Pictures of nature, which have been created with similar density and intensity, are rare in our art, and Talvik also makes a brilliant use of the possibilities of the technique. Monotype allows him to give up strict partition lines and let the tree trunks and colours blend with each other.
