Certainly, the meaning of the work is more universal and relates to the alarm bell that trees and forests are disappearing too fast all over Estonia and there is no place for people and animals anymore. In a sympathetic work with a vertical dominant, blues and greens blend in different shades, is this a quiet grief for the loss of greenery? However, the key to the work here in its concreteness is perhaps the silhouette of the Russalka monument at the top of the painting (the angel holding the cross). The area around Russalka was at the centre of controversy in 2017 over plans for the Reidi road. Mari Roosvalt has sometimes used media quotes and newspaper clippings in her recent work, referring to reactions to selected signals in real time. As of 2023, the greenery planted alongside the Reidi road can be welcomed, however, the Russalka angel will still hold aloft the cross.
