Johannes Uiga was an extremely prolific painter, whose impulsive and improvisational nature allowed for quick decisions and actions. Uiga wasted no time in creating atmospheres at a steady pace, but focused on a generalised character with a sweeping brushstroke. Therefore, we never experience details in his paintings, but generalisations. In case of Lamav akt (Lying Nude), too, Uiga has tried to convey above all a certain general view, a plot familiar from art history, to which he has added an interesting expressive use of colour in the background. In a rhythm of grey and black tones, he has tried to lead the dance with passion and impetuosity, finally adding an unexpected warmth of yellow.
